This page explains what Lives on the Record collects when you visit, who else
can see it, and what you can ask to have removed. It is written to be read, not to
be skipped.
The short version
- This site does not ask you to create an account and does not sell anything directly.
- It uses analytics to count visits, and third-party advertising, which uses cookies.
- If you email, that email is kept until the matter is dealt with.

What is collected
Automatically, when you visit
Standard web-server and analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived
from IP address, referring site, browser and device type, and time of visit. This is
used to understand which pages are read and whether the site is working. It is not
used to identify you personally.
When you contact the site
If you write to [email protected],
your email address and message are kept for as long as needed to answer you and to
keep a record of any correction made to the site. They are not added to a mailing
list and are not shared.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them in two ways.
Analytics cookies
Used to count visits and understand which pages are read. They do not identify you
by name.
Advertising cookies
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior
visits to this and other websites.

Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data
from them. If you believe a child has provided information here, write and it will be
deleted.
Data held outside your country

Changes
